Hysteroscopy

At Greens medical center we offer all the support and facilities for hysteroscopy to treat any issues related to gynecologic department.

Hysteroscopy is a process which uses the help of a viewing tool to examine the interior of the uterine cavity. This method is usually followed to diagnose the cause of abnormal bleeding & Infertility. A hysteroscope is a thin long tube like structure with camera and light attached to its end. The hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and moved up through the cervix to observe the internal cavity of the uterus.. A Hysteroscopy can be used in diagnostic or operative procedures.

Diagnostic Hysteroscopy

This method is used to diagnose the cause of problem in the uterus. It can also be used in laparoscopy in which the doctor inserts viewing tool through the incision made in the abdomen to view the internal cavity and associated organs.

Operative Hysteroscopy

Operative hysteroscopy is performed when an abnormal condition is confirmed after conducting diagnostic hysteroscopy. During operative hysteroscopy surgical tools are inserted through the hysteroscope to rectify the abnormality. Operative hysteroscopy is performed in rectifying various uterine abnormalities including:

  • Hysteroscopic removal of fibroids/ Polyps
  • Locating and removing adhesions of scar tissues
  • Correction of uterine septums
  • Diagnosing and correction of causes that causes abnormal bleeding
  • Hysteroscopy has many advantages when compared to other invasive methods including:
  • Less hospital stay
  • Faster recovery
  • Less pain
  • Safe procedure with less chances for complications
  • Less chances for infection
  • Less risk in the use of anesthetic
  • Loss of blood is low

Hysteroscopy is usually performed during the first week after the monthly menstrual period. This time is opted as it provides a clear view of the internal cavity of the uterus.

Hysteroscopy Procedure

The surgeon begins with the assistance of an anesthetic. After the patient is relaxed the cervix is dilated and the hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and the cervix to reach the uterus. Air is passed through the hysteroscope to dilate the uterus and to push away blood and mucus. The light and camera attached to the end of the hysteroscope allows the surgeon to view the inside of the uterine cavity and the opening of the fallopian tubes into the uterus. After diagnosing any condition, surgical tools are inserted through the hysteroscope and correction is performed.

After the hysteroscopy, patient experience slight pain and cramps for a day or two. There can be slight vaginal bleeding with abdominal pain and fever. At Greens medical center, we have a team of experts specialists and surgeons to help you treat and recover from all medical conditions.
